Tournament Information

Each fall, the Vancouver Inclusive Volleyball Association (VIVA) hosts Homovember — an indoor volleyball tournament celebrating competition, community, and inclusion.This year, Homovember 2025 will take place on Sunday, November 16, hosted across two gyms: Lord Byng Secondary School and West Point Grey Academy.

Sunday, November 16, 2025
Morning: Competitive Divisions (Both Gyms)
- Doors open: 8:00 AM
- Games begin: 8:30 AM
PM: Advanced Division (Lord Byng)
- Doors open: 8:00 AM
- Games begin: 12:35 PM
Locations and Divisions
- Lord Byng Secondary School – 3939 W 16th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6R 3C9
- Advanced Division – for Competitive 3 and 4 players
- Competitive Division – for Competitive 1 and 2 players
- West Point Grey Academy – 4125 W 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6R 1Z4
- Competitive Division – for Competitive 1 and 2 players

Format
- Competitive will be comprises of 12 Competitive teams split into a high and low for bracket play, and 7 Advanced Teams.
- Players are welcome to “Play Up” but we are unable to accommodate players slated in higher divisions to play in lower levels. For example: A C2 Player may play in the Advanced division, however a C3 Player may not play in the Intermediate Division or Lower. Also, an I2 Player can play in Competitive, however, a C1/C2 Player cannot play in Intermediate.
- Pool Play: 4 – 30 min timed matches per team with a 5 min warm up prior to start of game, matches must play another point after the whistle in the case of a tie, 2 sets to 25 points (start at 4–4, hard cap at 27).
- Bracket Play: Best of 3 to 25 points (start at 4–4, hard cap at 27, 3rd Set 0/0 to hard cap 17).
- After pool play Competitive Division WILL BE split into a high and low division bracket. Advanced will not.
- All bracket matches will be held at West Point Grey Academy.
- Teams’ end times will vary depending on elimination.
💵 Registration
Cost: $325 CAD per team
Registration Opens:
- Saturday, October 25 at 7:00PM PST (no payment required at the moment of registration)
Registration Closes:
- November 2, or earlier if divisions sell out.
Registration Details
- Registrations will be tracked by timestamp, and payment links will be sent to those teams per their timestamp after the fact.
- We will begin sending payment links within 48 hours of registration opening, starting by Monday, October 27th. If you do not receive a payment link, you are not confirmed for the tournament.
- A minimum of 4 players per team must be currently registered in this season of VIVA.
- Teams are confirmed once full payment has been completed and an approved & completed roster are submitted to [email protected].
- You must pay for the division you intend to play in — no transfers will be allowed.
- If your desired division is full, do not pay for a different division; doing so will result in playing in that division.
- A 10% administration fee applies to any cancellations.
- Space is limited — once divisions are sold out, registration will close.
👥 Team Composition & Rules
- Each team may include up to 7 players.
- Players cannot play on multiple teams.
- Captains are responsible for ensuring the full roster and payment are submitted at registration.
- A minimum of 4 players per team must be currently registered in this season of VIVA.
- Teams will not be moved between divisions after registration.
- Teams must be comprised of a minimum of four (4) current (2025/2026 Sunday League season) VIVA members or lifetime members to be eligible. A member who plays or has played in a non-member dues paying league (recreational, grass) does not count.
🏅 Skill Levels
- Intermediate Division – Cancelled
- Competitive Division – All VIVA divisions lower than and including C2 level or equivalent experience.
- Advanced Division – Upper-level players (C3, C4).
VIVA reserves the right to remove players or teams if rules or eligibility standards are not followed.

Teams with a minimum of 4 players who attend the registration party will receive a tournament perk. Please save the date and more information on what these Homorific tournament benefits will follow in the captains email.

🥪 Lunch and Amenities
- Lunch will not be provided.
- No food is permitted inside either gym.
- Please bring snacks that can be eaten outside and plan accordingly for breaks.
- Bring refillable water bottles — water stations will be available.
- A short lunch break will be provided based on scheduling and pool progress.
🚗 Parking and Logistics
- Lord Byng Secondary: Paid parking available in the school lot; limited free street parking nearby.
- West Point Grey Academy: Free parking available in the main lot (same lot used for VIVA Sunday League).
- Please bring indoor court shoes — no outdoor footwear allowed on gym floors.
